FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 7, 2005

Representative Bryan Holloway is named
House Freshman Legislator of the Year

On October 7, 2005, NC Representative Bryan Holloway, 91st House District, was named House Freshman Legislator of the Year by the North Carolina Chapter of Americans for Prosperity. The awards ceremony was held at the Embassy Suites in Cary, NC. The keynote speaker was former US Senator Zell Miller of Georgia. Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group that operates as a non-partisan body, watches the voting actions of elected officials. Holloway was chosen from a field of 21 new NC House members. Presenting the award to Holloway were State AFP Director Chris Neely, State AFP Co-Chairmen Bill Cobey and Dan Barrett, and Sarah Clapp National AFP Communications and Development Director. Neely praised Holloway for fighting for strong conservative values and lower taxes. Holloway was the primary and co-sponsor of 55 bills this session, which addressed issues such as lowering taxes and spending, cracking down on illegal immigration, and many other bills to aid farmers and seniors. Holloway was also elected by his peers as Freshman Republican House Leader. It quickly became obvious that under his leadership the Freshman Republicans began voting as a block, giving the freshmen a strong voice in the NC House. Holloway plans to continue the fight against high taxes, illegal immigration, and to work to bring funding to the classroom and teachers at the local level where he believes it belongs, plus many more conservative and pro-family issues that concern fellow North Carolinians.
