The Holloway Platform

I continue to work diligently to achieve the goals I set forth in my platform, and over the past four years we have had success. During my first term, I was successful in passing legislation to aid farmers, protect children from internet predators, and improve school bus safety laws. In my second term, I continued to promote my agenda and I passed legislation to require all prisoners' immigration status to be checked so we can remove illegal aliens from our state once their sentence is complete. In addition, I passed legislation to make it a felony offense to make a threat of mass violence on our school campuses. As I file for a third term, I vow to continue pushing a conservative agenda and oppose the out of control spending and out-of-touch ideas that so often come up in Raleigh. I am on your side, and I will do all I can to make North Carolina better and serve you, not the government.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Stop wasteful spending in state government

  • Oppose all tax increases and efforts to increase taxes

  • Pass Taxpayer's Protection legislation, which limits the growth of government and spending to keep taxes low

  • Return Surplus Dollars back to the taxpayer

  • Amend the State Constitution to prohibit the governor from taking Local Reimbursement Money; this will help keep property taxes low

  • Amend the State Constitution to prohibit the raiding of state retirement funds

  • Remove the Death Tax, so your children do not have to sell your estate or family farm due to double taxation

Stopping Illegal Immigration

  • Pass legislation to stop illegal aliens from receiving social services

  • Pass legislation that will penalize businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens

  • Stop illegal aliens from receiving a drivers license

  • Urge US Congress to not allow amnesty for illegal aliens

Rep. Bryan Holloway filed legislation this past session that would have addressed all of these issues concerning illegal immigration, yet the Speaker assigned the bills to the Rules Committee to never be heard.

Education

  • Improve educational opportunities by focusing spending on teachers and students, not administrative positions in Raleigh

  • Measure educational achievement with reasonable testing, not excessive testing

  • Put discipline back in the school system

  • Make education accessible so that our citizens can gain the education necessary to earn a true living wage

  • Provide strong educational opportunities for North Carolina's citizens and never provide in-state tuition for illegal aliens or out-of-state students. Illegal aliens should not even be here, and they should never be allowed in our school systems.

Jobs

  • Reduce our state's high tax rates, regulations, and litigation to prevent losing new industry and jobs to surrounding states

  • Provide tax incentives to small businesses to help them grow and create new employment

  • Promote tourism to help create new jobs

  • Work with farmers to determine their needs in order to protect the family farm and recognizing that agriculture built NC. We must continue to promote the industry.

Healthcare

  • Make healthcare accessible and affordable

  • Curb frivolous and uncalled-for lawsuits and reform medical malpractice costs

  • Redirect funding to help senior citizens and others that cannot care for themselves to purchase necessary medications

  • Promote long-term care coverage

Gas Prices

  • Permantly cap the variable tax on gasoline in North Carolina

  • Lower the state tax on gasoline; we currently have one of the highest in the nation

  • Prohibit the raiding of dollars from the Highway Trust Fund

  • Remove the sales tax on home heating fuels and natural gas

Family

  • Amend the NC Constitution to define marriage as only between one man and one woman

  • Protect the right's of the unborn and fight against abortion (Rep. Holloway is endorsed by NC Right to Life)

  • Keep the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance to the US Flag

  • Support starting the school day with prayer

  • Always support family values and protect against religious persecution of Christians

Law Enforcement and Public Safety

  • Provide law enforcement, fireman, and EMS workers with the necessary equipment to keep North Carolina citizens safe

  • Work to help firefighters, law enforcement, and EMS workers obtain better benefits

  • Push for tougher penalties for people who manufacture, sell, or posses illegal drugs

  • Pass "Jessica's Law" in North Carolina to severely punish sex offenders

  • Push for tougher penalties for DWI offenders

Gun Rights

  • Oppose any attempt to limit 2nd Amendment rights to own firearms (Rep. Holloway is a champion of the NRA and is rated a grade "A" on gun rights)

Property Rights

  • Amend the State Constitution to protect our property from eminent domain for the purpose of economic development

  • Always support legislation that protects the rights of the property owner
